Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association (HKDSA) is a Non-Profit Charity organization with providing comprehensive family support and vocational rehabilitation services for handicapped persons. World Down Syndrome Day is to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. A lot of coloured socks is the signature for this campaign to honour the victims of Down Syndrome, who have an extra chromosome. The Complexity of chromosomes look like “Colourful Socks”.
